Trial Prep
Getting ready for your beauty trial?
We've got you covered, follow these tips to make the most out of your session and ensure you walk away feeling confident for your big day!
We recommend scheduling at least
3-6 months prior to your event.
Consider these helpful tips…
☐ Research and Gather Inspiration: Before your trial, spend some time browsing through bridal magazines, Pinterest boards, and Instagram accounts to gather inspiration for your desired look. Save some images that resonate with you to show your hairstylist and makeup artist during the trial. This will help them understand your preferences and bring your vision to life.
☐ Cleanse and Moisturize: In the days leading up to your trial, make sure to cleanse and moisturize your face regularly. Clean, hydrated skin provides a great canvas for makeup application and helps your artist achieve a flawless finish.
☐ Come Prepared: Bring along any accessories, such as hairpieces, veils, or jewelry, that you plan to wear on your wedding day. This allows your hairstylist to incorporate them into your hairstyle and ensures they complement your overall look.
☐ Wear a Top with a Similar Color & Neckline: Choose a top that would be a similar fit and style as your wedding dress. This will help you visualize exactly how your hair and makeup will compliment your dress.
☐ Communicate Your Vision: During the trial, don't hesitate to communicate your preferences and provide feedback to your stylist and artist. Open and honest communication is crucial to achieving your desired look. Ask questions, seek advice, and collaborate together to get your look just right before your big day! We can’t emphasize this enough, be honest and direct about what you want and what you prefer for your style.
☐ Wear it Out!: If possible, schedule your trial on a day when you have an event or a night out planned. This way, you can see how well the makeup and hairstyle hold up throughout the day and make any necessary adjustments before the wedding.
☐ Take Photos: Snap some pictures during and after your trial to document the look and assess how it translates on camera. This will give you a better idea of how you will appear in your wedding photos and allow you to make any necessary tweaks if needed.
☐ Reflect and Review: After the trial, take some time to reflect on your experience and review the photos you captured. Consider how you felt with the chosen hairstyle and makeup look and whether any adjustments are desired. Take notes to share with your stylist and artist before the final wedding day preparations.
Remember, your trial session is an opportunity to fine-tune your bridal look and ensure you feel your absolute best on your wedding day. Enjoy the process and embrace the excitement of getting ready for your special day!
FAQ: Will my day-of hair & makeup be exactly like trial?
Some differences to keep in mind for your trial versus your final day-of look. One major factor is that during your trial an artist may use less primer, setting spray, hairspray, and hairpins. This is in order to more efficiently make changes and adjustments as needed while you commit to your final look.
Less setting product usually just means you may seeing fly-away’s come loose a bit earlier in the night or foundation smudging from your temporary look being touched or getting wet.
The main objective for your trial is to establish the final desired look by trying out styles and making adjustments until you get your vision just-right! That way the final look of your choice will be picture-perfect, and set to last for hours as you dance the night away!
